JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE Rear window will not close.
My girlfriend has an 05 liberty limited and she has just recently started having this problem. When she opens the back door the glass opens up normally. When closing the door and attempting to close the glass portion the glass will not shut. I took a look at it and noticed the black U shaped catch that keeps the glass in place does not move to the open position. It stays in the same position as if
The Sticky above liberty Service Manual has section 8 circuit diagrams (about 40 meg download). This is for the 2002 models but I dont think there will be much change as far as the rear windowlatch is concerned. There is also a good description on the operation of the latchrear wiper etc. which could help in faultfinding.
I too have that problem on our 2005 liberty. We open the rear window manually using the rear liftgate handle and then cannot close it since it will not engage the mechanism. The mechanism is acutally blocking it from closing properly. We hit the button on the remote a few times and then can close it. Any suggestions on what to adjust or replace to fix this.

Just fixed this on my sons liberty. The micro switch on the handle has corrosion. You cant just by the switch you need to buy a new handle. The handle comes with a new switch. I found a brand new one on E-bay for 60. I think the dealership wanted close to 90.
JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE 04 rear flip-up window very hard to close
Daughters car. Battery went dead. Replaced battery and then when open swing tail gate the lift window does not want to close. Slam very hard and got it to latch..thought may break window. Dont see any adjustment for latch or reason for this. Seems not related to battery failure Thanks Terry

JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE 2005 Jeep Liberty Rear Drivers side window stuckfrozen
My wife has a 2005 jeep liberty and we were driving last night and had the window half way down for our dog to stick his head out the window. We rolled down the window about half of the way and everything was fine. When we went to roll up the window a little bit (it was getting a little cold) we rolled it up about 2. About 30 min later we went to roll it all the way up and nothing. The switch in the
Without being their never 100% sure. I have only been reading 3 KJ forums as my KJ is new to me. I have read on here and KJcountry and lost jeeps more than twenty times of someone with the small piece of plastic attaching the window to the regulator problem. More than twenty times I read they went to the dealer and it was covered under warranty. Some are only partially covered. Many times it failed

JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE Rear Window Pad Installed
Simple install. Pad has a peel off backing. Clean the glass area with an alcohol pad. Place the pad onto the window to find the location you want. Marked aroung the edges with a wax pen. Remove the backing and place the pad onto the glass. Just that simple. You will only get one shot on the final install so aim carefull. Pad is very sticky and you will not be able to move it once its on the glass. This is an 04 part number. 55360709AA Later Brad IN 03 liberty
Its a plastic pad on the rear window that now comes on the 04s. It goes where you would place your fingers to close the rear window. Some owners that didnt have it were looking for the part number. Stop by your dealer and look at an 04. All that I have seen so far come with it. Later Brad IN 03 liberty
Now I get it its a pad to close the rear window wo getting fingerprints on the glass. That has been one of my peevs with the liberty. A fix for less than 10 is sweet

JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE rear window open when doors unlock
I have an 03 liblerty sport. When I use the key fab to unlock the doors the rear window pops open. When I close it it keeps popping open. If I close it and quickly lock the doors it stops. I have tried different key fabs and know its not that. Any suggestions
JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE Rear Power Window Inop
Rolling up the rear power window yesterday. Heard a clunk and the window now will slide loosely in the track although the motor does run. Looking inside it appears the trolly that attaches the motor to the window is broken. What parts do I need to fix it and how do I install it I unplugged the motor and put dowel under the window to keep it closed but I need it to work. Appreciate the help.
JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE Rear Window Lift Struts
The rear window lift struts that are glued on the back window came off resulting in my inability to close the back window. It is currently at the dealer for repair. has anybody else had this happen and how long did it take to repair
Ive driven at HW speeds no problem. The shocks are at full load when the window is closed so when its open they are under no load. Just be sure to open other windows to keep fresh air in the jeep.. I hardly have it open though..
JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE Rear window in down position
I just paid 7.95 on line for a service manual that did not help. If the rear window fails to go up and the motor sounds like its running is this a sign of a broken cable or doesnt the liberty use cables. I dont want to take the door apart if its something I cant fix. Thanks
First off it would seem they simply supply the plastic clips basically hardware items with the motor. Secondly i have learned the hard way dealership parts dudes are on commission and they sometimes tell you that you have to purchase the motor in this case for instance to get the clip. Third if you cannot purchase the clip without the motor then simply go to a junk yard and get a clip from a door.
If the gear on the motor is chewed up then you have a drag situation causing an increase in effort beyond what the nylon gear could handle. This might be anything from a messed up track to a kid holding the window down while another one tried to close it using the power switch. Might also help you to know that most auto parts stores offer a line of commonly needed clips and fastners used in modern
It wont bounce unless your Flip Up Glass Support Cylinders are worn out. I drive around with mine up fairly often not at super fast speeds of course but the jeep will drive with it up. It is a bit noisy and dust will follow you on a dirt road when you stop of course. The only thing i noticed is the warning flashing in the odometer periodically that the glass is not closed securely. JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE Rear window hatch...
Out of curiousity do any of you guys drive with the rear hatch open The manual says its not a good idea because of the fumes. I am more concerned about breaking the glass or damaging hinges if I hit a pothole or something. I see people in Blazers doing it all the time. What do you guys do I figured the airflow has got to be really good with it open but I dont want to break anything.
Ive driven around with it open before without problems but personally I dont like doing it because you have to stop and get out of the car if you decide that you want to close it. I like driving the windows open but if Im sitting behind a truck spilling dirt everywhere I like to be able to close them quickly. The other day I was driving and I look up the road near this construction site and the wind
JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE Rear window scratching door
Hello Just noticed that the bottom left of my rear window is rubbing against the top left of my big rear door. A line of paint about 1 inch large is already gone. Is that a common problem What did you do to fix this odd problem My jeep is still under warranty. I think I will go to the dealership to hear what they have to say about that.
Its a 2004 model. The bottom left side of the window has always been closer to the door than the other side. So when I pass through bumps this is when the window scrub the door. I guess I will have to see what the dealership has to say about that. Thanks for your help
JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE 2005 Rear Window Defoster no wooking
Hey All Just bought the new 2005 (to me) liberty and all will be fine as soon as I replace the brake master cylinder and get the rear window defroster to work. Sad to say this jeep was bought for my wife sad because I only get to drive it on the weekends. I am stuck driving the 1998 Cherokee which isnt that bad. Anyway we had our first frost since we bought the liberty and lo and behold the rear window

JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE KJ rear window problem
hello all...i normally hang out in the TJ section but my lil sister has an issue with her kj so i figured i post for her.....the tailgate window wont shut.....not sure why just doesnt....just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their liberty...btw she has an 05 limited. thanks Travis
Hi I just had the same problem two weeks ago. It was actually the tailgate lock which burned out. You can then open the tailgate without unlocking the vehicle. Then when you want to close the lift glass it would not close properly. If you unlock the vehicle the glass closes. They replaced the lock for me in a day. Corrie

JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE Rear Windshield Latch
I have a 2002 jeep liberty and the latch on the rear windshield has come off. I have tried to re-glue it with everything... gorilla glue liquid nails crazy glue etc. It would stay for a little while and then come loose again. Recently the latch came off the windshield and fell out of the car somewhere on the highway. I checked with the dealer and they want to replace the entire back windshield for
JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE Tailgate window latch
So I was in a little while ago and got some killer help on replacing a blower resistor-so here I am with another issue. Got in my Libby yesterday to leave for work and the tailgate window was open a bit. It was closed when I had gotten home form work the night before. It appears that after opening by itself the latch locked and remains in the locked position and is preventing the window from closing
Did you ever get it fixed bud.... Im new to the jeep liberty and Ive been reading up on issues. I just picked up an 02 Renegade for a steal... I have the same issue with the rear window latch. Not sure what its called the regulator selnoid no auto parts store know what Im talking about so Ill have to remove it and bring it into dealership to pick up a new part.... For me and my understanding of cars
This happens to me on my 06 every time I open the rear door by the handle and try closing it without the button on my key the latch remains closed and the window wont close . I have to hit the rear window button on my key twice and it opens the latch so I can close the window and I find it a real pain because you have to have the jeep off in order to use the key button .

JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE Window Issue.
Hey guys as most of you have already done before replaced a regulator on the rear passenger side. I have done that before on my 2002 jeep liberty. But this time I heard sort of a small pop and the motor still works the window goes down and I can pull it up but it remains locked about an inch from being fully closed and will not go all the way up. It does not fall down like last time rather it will go down with the switch. Any suggestions Thoughts Advice Thanks

I have an 03 Renegade and my In-Laws have the Limited. You can open the back doorwindow when the alarm is set and the doors are locked . Whats up with that At least their Alarm will sound while mine doesnt. Both of us got these used and we havent found any blown fuses. Anyone else had any issues with the back gate

Anyone else had any issues with the back gate Does your rear gate handle have the key-lock on it Early 20022003 models have this...enables you to openclose glass and gate by themselves if the key is in the unlock position and will only lock if you lock it with the key. The lock for the gate is effectively a motor that runs in one direction to lock and reverse direction to unlock. There is the lock motor in there and two switches...one to sense the motor has gone to the home position and the other to unlatch the glass window. Best to download the 2003 KJ Service Manual here...describes how it all works and has the circuit diagrams. The BCM pays a big part here but hopefully you can trace the wires using the circuit diagrams while sitting inside the cargo bay with the gate plastic cover removed and the gateglass closed. httpwww.colorado4wheel.commanualsjeepKJ

JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE Removing door panel with door closed
Hey guys... A friend of mine has a KJ liberty and shes been through three window regulator failures so far during her ownership. Well this makes a fourth This time its a little different. The window wont stay up but now the door wont open. Ive read another older thread that I replied to and havent heard any answers but someone said they were able to get the door panel off with the door closed. I bought

JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE Rear gate button
So my rear window and gate are not working properly....when I open the gate the hatch( or catch) for the window doesnt click or open so in order to close the window I have to push the button on my keys to open catch. My Is what is the black square button next to the catch for the rear window is it supposed to open the catch cause mine never did a thing....thanks
Ahh let me see if i can explain it a bit better. 1st on the gate where the window catches there is a little square button just to the left of the window latch ( i will try to get a pic soon) i push that button it does nothing i dont know if it is supposed to do anything or not. Ok so what happens is if i open the rear gate withe the handle it opens fine but when i close the gate i cant close the window
I just went out and looked at my liberty. I was curious to see if I had this button you were talking about. You are talking about the little square rubber button next to the latch mechanism in the middle of the gate that when you push it it has a little bit of spring pressure behind it...right All that button does is when your window is closed it is putting pressure on the bar that locks into the latch.
